After Care & Healing Crisis
AFTER CARE ADVICE
Every client reacts differently following a treatment. Some clients may experience tiredness, dizziness, an increase in eliminations due to toxin release from the body, heightened emotional state and aching muscles.
All of these side effects may last a few hours after which clients generally experience an overall sense of well being (see Healing Crisis). Avoid alcohol and stimulants (tea/coffee) and drink plenty of water or herbal teas, also avoid heavy meals immediately following treatments.
Take things easy for a while, no exercise, just plenty of rest and relaxation. Some people may also feel full of vitality and totally re-energised following a treatment, again this can be a normal reaction to the treatments.

AFTER CARE ADVICE ~ Long Term
Aim to drink approximately 2 litres of water per day (6 – 8 glasses) ~ water helps the skin and kidneys to eliminate toxins. It also stimulates and flushes the liver and helps waste pass more quickly through the gut, removing toxins.
Aim to eat a well balanced diet – which includes 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day.
Cut down on stimulants such as tea and coffee or fizzy drinks and alcohol. Remember everything in moderation’. Try and take at least 30 minutes exercise each day, even if this is a gentle walk. Remember your postural exercises: Shoulder Rolls to reduce upper back pain, pelvic tilts to reduce lower back pain, lateral and anterior neck stretches to reduce neck pain.
Also, deep slow breathing throughout the day will bring down blood pressure, slow down the heart and mind and increase more oxygen to your blood cells.
THE HEALING CRISIS’ – WHAT IS IT?
The symptoms listed under ‘After Care Advice’ are known as a ‘Healing Crisis’ and these are normal reactions to the treatment, especially if the receiver has never had a treatment before or if the body is very stressed.
This ‘Healing Crisis’ means a positive result of the treatment as massage encourages all body systems to function more efficiently, speeding up waste removal and the elimination of toxins as well as getting rid of negative deep-held emotions.
